Korean Film Festival opens today
THE two-day Korean Film Festival is slated to begin at the Palace Cineplex, Sovereign Centre in St Andrew, tonight.
Showtime is scheduled for a 5:30 pm start.
“It is expected that these upcoming events will not only strengthen the existing cultural bond between Korea and Jamaica, but also bring the two countries a step closer to a stronger relationship going forward,” Jong Seon Lim, head of mission of the Republic of Korea to Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
This year Jamaica and South Korea celebrate 54 years of diplomatic relations.
Fans of Asian cinema will have two action-packed Korean hits, The Suspect and A Hard Day, on hand for viewing over the both days.
The Suspect is a spy action thriller starring Gong Yoo as Dong-chul. The 137-minute movie is about a North Korean agent abandoned by his country and becomes a cab driver in South Korea. Accused of murder and treason, he intends to start a war to prove his innocence.
A Hard Day is a crime action thriller about a luckless police detective who becomes the target of blackmail after trying to cover up a hit-and-run.
Tickets, free to the public, are available at the venue before showtime and by calling 924-2731.
