Wolmer’s, Montego Bay set to retain titles at Hi-Lyte tennis championships
DEFENDING champions Wolmer’s Boys’ and Montego Bay High are fancied to retain their Under-19 boys’ and girls’ titles, respectively, at the 2016 Hi-Lyte High Schools Team Tennis Championships at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre, following semi-final victories yesterday.
The finals of all the age groups will be played today, beginning at 9:00 am. However, there are three unfinished matches to be completed this morning in the team event.
Girls’ and Boys’ Under-16 and Under-14 team finals are scheduled to start at 9:00 am, while the Under-19 finals are slated to begin an hour later.
Wolmer’s Boys’ defeated St George’s College 4-0 in their semi-finals, while Hillel Academy scored a similar 4-0 win over Campion College in their semi-final played yesterday.
Meanwhile, Under-19 Girls’ defending champions Montego Bay High trounced Hillel Academy 4-0 and will face Campion College, who carved a 4-2 win over 15-time consecutive former champions Immaculate Conception High in their semi-finals.
In the Under-14 Boys’ team event, Campion College beat St George’s College 2-0 and will face the winner of the Hillel Academy versus Wolmer’s, which was tied at 1-1.
The Under-14 Girls saw St Andrew High School beating Mount Alvernia and will face the winner of the Immaculate Conception versus Campion College tie in today’s final.
