Fugitive wanted in the US for murder arrested in St Elizabeth
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — The police say that after months of collaboration and investigation between the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Branch (C-TOC) and United States Law Enforcement agencies, a Jamaican fugitive was arrested in Black River, St Elizabeth, on October 10.
The fugitive has been identified as 53-year-old Dale Ainsley Ewers of Mountainside district, St Elizabeth, who was wanted in the state of Florida in the United States for first degree murder, robbery using a deadly weapon, sexual battery and kidnapping with a deadly weapon.
It is alleged that on Friday, September 21, 1990, Ewers committed the offences and later fled to Jamaica.
Reports are that on October 10, a warrant of arrest under the Extradition Act of 1991 was executed on him.
He appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court yesterday for extradition proceedings and was remanded until November 8, 2016.
