Daine hopes to blaze the trail
Up-and-coming entertainer Daine Blaze is confident his upcoming single Guilty Conscience will give him his musical breakthrough.
Slated to be released later this month, the singjay said the track explores the effects of dishonesty in a relationship.
“The song is centred around a female who is always arguing with and accusing her partner of infidelity when, in reality, she is doing the same thing. Cheating oftentimes causes broken homes and sometimes it is the children who are the victims in the end,” he said.
Daine Blaze, whose given name is Gregg Legister, grew up on Waltham Park Road in Kingston 13.
“I was exposed at an early age to an eclectic roster of music as my mother was an avid music listener of Tracy Chapman, Crystal Gayle and Michael Bolton, amongst many others,” he said.
But it was upon his entrance to high school that he became a fan and found inspiration in the works of Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Capleton, Notorious B.I.G., and Tupac. In their words, he found his voice and soon after started his musical voyage by playing music with Black Magic sound system.
Playing music only quenched a small part of his musical thirst, so he adopted the moniker of Daine Blaze and began to explore his by writing and producing songs.
His first professional endeavour was a compilation rhthym called First Cut in 2011. It featured entertainers like Gyptian, Munga and Future Fambo.
He later went on to release singles including Twerk, Make Mama Proud, Go Harder, and Mash Up Your Home.
