Pure Amazement for Ronron Trophy
A talented field of Restricted Stakes imported three-year-olds and upward (NW3 and maidens) and Native Bred three-year-olds will highlight the Ronron Trophy on today’s 10-race card at Caymanas Park.
Also on the card is a good looking bunch of native-bred two-year-olds going 1,000 metres straight for a purse of $800,000 in a maiden special weight event which will see them continue preparation for the upcoming Supreme Ventures Limited ultra-rich native bred Two-Year-old ‘Triple Crown’ series. First-time runner Rockdale from the barn of Gary Subratie and Duty First, trained by Gordon Lewis, should fight out the finish, with the edge given to Rockdale.
The race will start the day’s proceedings with a field of six runners at 12:10 pm.
This will be followed by another sharp sprint going 1,000 round for Overnight Allowance company that includes a speedy bunch of three-year-olds and upward featuring the imported Gato Dorado, Talented Tony K, Crucial Appeal and Berranca.
However, at the penultimate stage, a competitive field of 12 runners will contest the Ronron Trophy feature going 1,200 metres for a purse of $768,000. Here, the highly thought of imported chestnut filly Pure Amazement will go in search of win number two on local soil following her command victory over 1,000 metres straight on last in which she led from start to finish.
Owned by the PJK Team and trained by Ian Parsard, Pure Amazement ( Too Much Bling – Amazing Trace) looked well organised in her preparation and with jockey Robert Halledeen recalled to the saddle in place of the claiming apprentice Dane Dawkins, the filly looks certain to chalk up her second win from three starts.
Bird Catcher, who had a decent run in the Three-Year-Old fillies Classics and a second place finish in the Thornbird Stakes, is expected to be one of the major rivals of Pure Amazement, the other is Another Fury, the stablemate of Bird Catcher.
The Philip Feanny-trained Dancing Queen and Bubbling Kitten are two other runners who should enjoy the trip of 1,200 metres and and have an impact on the outcome of this event.
Dancing Queen with two wins and two fourth-placed finishes from five starts will be ridden by Oneil Mullings, while Bubbling Kitten will have Delroy Beharie in the saddle.
However, whosoever wins this will have to be at their best in this field of runners.
