Reggae Marathon-Burger King Grand Prix Series runs off Oct 23
The Reggae Marathon-Burger King Grand Prix Series 2016 kicks off on Sunday, October 23, with the Burger King Mandeville 7K Run & 5K Walk starting at the Burger King store, Caledonia Avenue, at 3:00 pm.
The series continues on Sunday, November 6 with the Burger King Portmore 10K Run & 5K Walk & School Relays, with the run off at the Burger King Portmore Mall store at 7:00 am.
According to Alfred “Frano” Francis, race director for Reggae Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K, only the participants in the 7K and 10K events will qualify for the Grand Prix series.
“This is because the training needed for the 7K & 10K in the Burger King Grand Prix is at the level which prepares them for the Reggae Marathon,” said Francis.
According to Ricardo Brooks, sponsorship manager for Burger King, the Reggae Marathon-Burger King Grand Prix series is one of the restaurant’s longest sponsorship commitments.
“We are always enthused by the level of support and participation on both legs of the series. However, we are even more encouraged to see student athletes giving of their best in the events. Burger King will continue to support initiatives like these. Wherever there is focus on sports or education, you will find Burger King,” he said.
In addition to providing cash awards to the winners in the Reggae Marathon-Burger King Grand Prix series, Burger King provides meals for all the participants.
