UWI to meet Reno FC at Frome
Reno FC will be seeking their first win over University of the West Indies FC, when they meet this Sunday at the Frome Sports Grounds, starting at 3:30pm, as the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) resumes following last week’s break due to the threat of Hurricane Matthew.
The teams are locked on seven points each, but Reno FC hold the edge in sixth place on goal difference, while UWI FC are in seventh.
Meanwhile, Montego Bay United travel to Effortville in Clarendon where they will face Humble Lion in a game between the second and third-placed- teams — both tied on nine points each.
In their three meetings last year, UWI won the last two games, both played at Frome, finishing fifth in the league and just missing a semi-final spot in their inaugural RSPL season, after drawing the first game 2-2.
UWI FC are also coming off a victory, beating Tivoli Gardens 2-1 at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex, while Reno FC were beaten 2-0 by defending champions Montego Bay United, giving up their first two goals of the season — both in the final nine minutes — ending a run of 350 minutes without conceding a goal.
Reno FC will be hoping to bounce back from their setback against Montego Bay United, and return to winning ways. The Westmoreland outfit have scored just two goals in their four games played all season, the same as Harbour View, and only better than one other club, last-placed Waterhouse FC.
