Digicel gets the nod to purchase TRES Networks in Curacao
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Digicel Group today announced that it has received approval from the Government and regulatory authorities for the purchase of TRES Networks in Curacao, and is now moving swiftly to complete the transaction.
In a news release from the company, CEO, Digicel Play, Caribbean and Central America John Suranyi said: “This is an exciting time for Digicel Curacao and TRES Networks, as together we are better positioned to serve our customers. As always, our emphasis is on ensuring that our customers benefit from the best services and the latest innovation, so we are looking forward to forging ahead with plans to expand our suite of products and services for our customers in Curacao.”
“We are excited about joining the Digicel team which allows us to move forward with our plans to extend the only true Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) network to other neighbourhoods on the island. This does not only enable more people to enjoy the highest quality Internet, TV and telephony services but also to enjoy it at the fastest speeds available on the island,” said Frank de Fremery, CEO of TRES Networks.
According to the release, TRES Networks is a fixed and international long distance telecommunications operator and distributor of digital television and entertainment services. It provides residential and business customers with high-speed Internet, voice and digital services over the island’s only fibre-optic network.
Additionally, the release said with its all fibre-optic network, TRES Networks supports Digicel’s ongoing focus on helping customers compete by delivering them the most advanced business solutions.
Suranyi added that Digicel is already investing heavily in increasing the capacity of their service as they continue to evolve into a total communications and entertainment provider – and the acquisition of TRES Networks will provide the framework to broaden that even further.
