Nine-man Port Antonio edge Fair Prospect 2-1
PASSLEY GARDENS, Portland — Port Antonio High, playing with nine players, edged Fair Prospect High 2-1 in their Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/FLOW daCosta Cup game at the College of Agriculture Science and Education’s west field at Passley Gardens on Saturday.
Port Antonio’s goals were scored by Jahmani Hamilton (73rd) and Tyrese Mathews (94th), while Lamar Evans’ own goal (86th) gave Fair Prospect a glimmer of hope.
In an evenly contested game, Port Antonio’s first-half raids were speaheaded by Hamilton, O’Dane Jacks, Mathews, and Andrew Layne.
When the attack was reversed, Okeme Tomlinson, Sanjay Hamilton and Dane Wallace led the charge for Fair Prospect.
After a flurry of missed chances that forced a goalless first half, Port Antonio finally got off the in the second stanza when a Dillan Nugent free kick found Hamilton, who fired past Ricardo Porter in Fair Prospect the goal.
Fair Prospect were on level terms 13 minutes later when their man Zaviah Champinai floated in a corner, but Port Antonio’s Evans’ effort to clear the ball only succeeded in beating his own goalkeeper, Floyd Thompson.
Port Antonio got the clincher from a torrid freekick from Mathews, whose shot was was too much for goalkeeper Porter to handle.
