Cornwall College retain Jackson shield
MUNRO, St Elizabeth — Cornwall College wrapped up their preparation for this weekend’s start of the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup schoolboys’ football competition by beating Munro College 1-0 to retain the Jackson Shield for the sixth consecutive year.
The Jackson Shield was supposed to be a three-match competition this year with the addition of an over 50 game, but Munro, who had called for the game, failed to field a team.
Munro College won the Over 35 game 2-1, but midfielder Shavon McDonald’s goal made the difference between the daCosta Cup teams.
Cornwall College, who have won the daCosta Cup 11 times, will play in Zone A of the competition that starts on September 12, alongside Anchovy High, Green Pond High, Irwin High, Maldon High and St James High.
