Fashion trends this fall
I must admit, it took me a while before I figured out that fall came after summer. For the most part when it comes on to Jamaicans, despite learning in school that the seasons are summer then fall/autumn, winter then spring, we know it as summer, school time, christmas, and exam time when the poui tree start bloom.
We’ve now approached that back to school season, and have officially reached the Sunday of our Summer. As depressing as that sounds i’m pretty sure we still lowkey get excited for back to school shopping.
In keeping with #TAFashionWeek here is a list of
teenAGE‘s favourite fashion trends for this upcoming fall/ school year.

1. Chokers
Since the trend came out in 2014, we haven’t been able to let go of it. One of the many trends that originated from the 90’s, we’ve seen many evolutions of it here in Jamaica. From the black elastic tattoo came about so many different styles followed and 2016 fall is the season for statement chokers.
Let me let you in on a little secret. Chokers are super easy to make! Go to your local fabric store and look on the types of ribbons, laces and mesh. I can assure you you’ll find a pattern that you like, buy a half yard and DIY.

2. Ruffles
I think this is my favourite. It’s so simple yet so elegant. Ruffles has been one of those trends that no matter the season or the year, designers always seem to incorporate it into their designs. We’re not complaining though! In fact, ruffles have been trending all year round, It’s safe to say that you can never go wrong with ruffles.
3. Off-The-Shoulder
Another simple chic look that you can either dress up or dress down. Pair it with a denim skirt, high waisted jeans or shorts for a casual back to school look.
4. Fall florals
It’s like floral prints can never go out of season. I love it! Whether a dramatic print or a simple touch of daisy, florals will having you feeling like flower princess while rushing to your first day and classes.
5. Denim mini skirts
Believe it or not jeans skirts actually did come back in style hahaha. There’s something about seeing everybody wear it that makes it social acceptable. It’s just like bell bottom pants, it’s slowly coming back into style and people are very much welcoming it. Its funny how trends work.
7. Denim patched pants
There’s something so aesthetically pleasing about patched denim pants. Maybe its the monochrome of blues or the contrasts in prints but one thing for sure is it’s a style that can surely dress up a dull shirt.
8) Embroidered/embellished denim
Whether a jeans jacket or jeans pants, these embroidered denim have easily become one of our favourite back to school trend. Check out your local thrift store and get some nice denim jackets or high waisted jeans and get crazy creative and customize to fit your personal style!
