Rain delays start of Windies 2nd innings at Sabina Park
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Steady rainfall has delayed the start of West Indies second innings on the third day of the second Test versus India at Sabina Park.
Earlier, India declared their first innings on 500-9 in reply to the West Indies paltry score of 196.
But as soon as players left the field after the declaration, the groundsmen were forced to get the protective covers on as the rains came.
West Indies need to make at least 304 runs to avoid an innings defeat.
Scores: West Indies 196 (52.3 overs); India 500-9 (171.1 overs)
India had resumed today on 358-5.
Middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who was 42 not out overnight, went on to make 108 not out – his seventh Test hundred. Opener Lokesh Rahul top-scored for India with a career best 158 on Sunday.
The visitors lead the four-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Antigua a week ago.
