Emancipation celebrations postponed
MAJOR events planned for last night this evening to celebrate the Emancipation/Independence holiday were postponed as the island prepared for unstable weather conditions.
• The Independence Village at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre was closed at 6:00 last evening
until further notice.
• The Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Coronation, scheduled for 8 o’clock last night, was postponed until further notice.
• The ‘Aunty Roachy’ Festival and the Fashion Greets Music Show, scheduled for today, has been postponed until further notice.
• The Festival Bandwagon and other planned activities across the island organised by the JCDC and scheduled for last evening were postponed until further notice.
The Ministry of Culture said tickets for events will remain valid for the new dates to be announced.
