B&H score upset win in Sandals football
OCHO RIOS, Jamaica — A goal from Giovanni Armstrong carried newcomers B & H JA Holdings to a dramatic 1-0 win over highly-touted Jewels Runaway Bay Resort, as action heated up in the Sandals sponsored St Ann/St Mary Business House Football Competition last week at the Drax Hall field.
In other matches played during the week, Moon Palace and Sandals Ochi played to a 0-0 score-line; Stush in the Bush crushed Banks United 4-1; Couples Sans Souci edged Beaches Ocho Rios 2-1 and National Water Commission defeated Noranda Bauxite 3-2.
The B & H versus Jewels contest was an entertaining one, with Jewels having the better of play, but faulty shooting robbed them of what should have been a well-deserved victory.
B & H, to their credit stuck to their game plan of employing the counter attack and it was Armstrong who put them ahead with a well-placed kick. Jewels launched a number of attacks but failed to crack a well-marshalled defence.
Action continues today with B & H against Banks United at 4:00 pm, while champions Couples Tower Isle face Beaches Ocho Rios in the feature match at 6:00 pm.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsors, Sandals Regional Public Relations Manager, Ian Spencer lauded the good standard of football displayed so far, while expressing disappointment at the late start to a number of matches.
“It is very important that we maintain discipline during the competition and this includes teams adhering to the scheduled starting time for matches,” Spencer noted.
