15 graduate from parenting workshop
FIFTEEN parents who participated in the Child Development Agency (CDA) and Anglican Diocese Mothers’ Union programme last Wednesday graduated at the Christ Church Port Antonio in Portland, after three months of training.
The programme, which started in England and has been running worldwide, is in its 12th year in Jamaica.
“The programme is fundamental in shaping lives, as this is a programme that is developed worldwide to empower our parents.
“We have been working with parents over the years and have tried different strategies with one-day conferences and sessions, but this one has had a positive impact on the lives of parents and children. We want the parents to be positive role models for their children,” Carlette Wallace, from the Portland CDA office said.
She added that the programme is geared towards fostering good relationships between parents and children, and to encourage mutual support and confidence.
