13 vie Festival Queen title
THIRTEEN contestants are slated to compete in the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen Grand Coronation this evening at the Independence Village, Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew.
Showtime is 8:00 pm.
The coronation is being held under the 2016 Emancipation and Independence theme: “Let’s Get Together and Feel Alright.
Stephen Davidson, Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s (JCDC) director of marketing and public relations, said the grand coronation “promises to be an exceptional show”.
“The 2016 Parish Queens are impressive and brilliant young ladies who are determined to make their own stamp on the competition while contributing to community and national development,” said Davidson.
The 13 parish queens competing for the title of Miss Jamaica Festival Queen 2016 are: Miss St Thomas — Shannay Williams; Miss Kingston and St Andrew — Shanique Shand; Miss St Catherine — Godiva Golding; Miss Clarendon — Meisha Richardson; Miss Manchester — Sharmica Holness; Miss St Elizabeth — Ann-Marie Elliott; Miss Westmoreland — Feleisha Samuels; Miss Hanover — Chevaun Gray; Miss St James — Kyesha Randall; Miss Trelawny — Kacia Whilby; Miss St Ann — Khadena Matthews; Miss St Mary — Monique Patrice Robb; and Miss Portland — Kristina Newby.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Thriller U, Adazeh band and Querido ‘Quecee’ Howell.
Tickets for the coronation are adults $1,200 pre-sold, $1,500 at the gate and children $500 and they are available at the Sangster’s Book Store locations: Mall Plaza, Portmore, Sovereign Centre, King Street, Cross Roads and Spanish Town and also at all Bill Express locations islandwide.
