No weapons will be allowed at Grand Gala
EXECUTIVE Director of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Dr Delroy Gordon says no weapons will be allowed inside the National Stadium during the staging of the grand gala on August 6 — Independence Day.
The event is the final celebration of Jamaica’s 54th anniversary of Independence under the theme: ‘Let’s Get Together and Feel Alright’.
“Absolutely no weapons will be allowed. No bottles, no umbrellas with long shafts, and so on. The police will be very vigilant and will enforce the rules to ensure they take care of everyone’s safety,” Gordon said at a recent JIS Think Tank.
He said that adequate security measures are in place for the event, with the Jamaica Defence Force and private security firms to provide support to the Police.
The JCDC executive director is encouraging patrons to get to the stadium early for the grand gala, which is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm. Gates will open at 3:00 pm.
