Purple reigns on Hardy’s March
THE Nissan March isn’t the most masculine of cars. But thats fine with Chantall Hardy of audio equipment specialist Sound City. She has managed to turn her 2007 into a ‘masterpiece’.
“The first reaction is always: ‘Is that a girl driving?’” she told
Auto.
From the outside, there doesn’t seem much in the way of ‘macho-ness’ as the bubble shape of the March is accented by purple in the headlight surrounds and door mirrors. Inside it’s the same. Several of the interior trims pieces have received the matching treatment.
“I just chose a different colour than everyone else, like I did with the car. It’s a rather unique vehicle,” she explained.
That uniqueness and colour coordination continues to the rear, where the reason is to be found for March turning heads. Open the trunk, and sitting in it is a pair of custom purple fibreglass subwoofer enclosures sporting a Kicker 12-inch subwoofer in each. These are the centre points for the 3,500-watt stereo system that has been installed in Nissan.
“It was a team effort to put it together a month before Heelz & Wheelz,” she said.
The super-clean installation starts with a Pioneer head unit, four mid-range speakers, four tweeters, the two 12-inch subwoofers, and a trio of amplifiers to power it all as the car sits on adjustable coil-over suspension, which keeps a thin fender gap to the 17-inch wheel package it rolls around on. Still, it’s not the stereo that keeps Hardy coming back.
“I love the whole look of the car,” she said.
The purple theme isn’t limited to the paint. The car is purposely left untinted to help show off the lighting options added. At Heelz & Wheelz 2016, patrons were treated to the glowing purple undercarriage, high-intensity discharge headlights, and all the interior lights swapped for brighter LED bulbs.
“We have some crazy modifications planned for the car in the future.”
