‘Chop Chop’ takes aim at ‘Lion Heart’in Contender Boxing
Team Caribbean’s Guyana boxer Revlon “Lion Heart” Lake, who rallied from a first-round damaged left eyebrow to fashion an entertaining majority decision against Team USA’s Anthony Woods in the preliminary stage, will vie for a semi-final spot in the Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum Contender Boxing Series at the Chinese Benevolent Association Auditorium tonight.
Lake is set to fight the much fancied Demarcus “Chop Chop” Corley of Team USA in the welterweight quarter-final bout scheduled to start approximately 9:30 pm.
The Lake-Coley clash is the feature event on a three-fight card scheduled to open at 8:30 with the first of two amateur fights. Last week, a full-house audience was thrilled by two three-rounders from some promising boxing talent, and this week is expected to be no less entertaining.
No half-measures are expected.
Lake has displayed good fighting qualities in the Contender Series.
Corley, the four-time World Champion who outclassed Team Caribbean counterpart Iwan “Pure Gold” Azore to become the second qualifier of the campaign, is expected to make his second appearance at the Contender Series “Boxing Mecca” in much better fighting shape than he was in the second fight of the series.
