H’View blank lacklustre Arnett Gardens 3-0
Harbour View greeted a lukewarm showing from the defending champions Arnett Gardens with a 3-0 shutout in their Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) game at the Harbour View mini-stadium on Thursday.
The lot at the top of the RSPL table decided and nothing but pride left to play for, John-Ross Edwards took advantage of a lacklustre showing by Arnett Gardens and scored twice (53rd and 71st) to give Harbour View the comfortable shutout with Evan Taylor adding from the penalty spot in minute 30.
From a position of advancement, the victory had no real significance for Harbour View, but Head Coach Ludlow Bernard was pleased with the performance of his team. “It is always good to win and always good to have a victory over Arnett Gardens. I thought we really applied ourselves today. I am not too sure what Arnett Gardens were about today but they looked rather flat, and it was good to see that we could have taken advantage of the situation and score three goals,” Bernard noted.
Jerome Waite, the Arnett Gardens head coach, was not pleased with his team’s performance with a million-dollar first prize up for grabs for the team topping the standing . “We still have another game to play before the semi-final. However, what the team showed us today is that some internal problems we faced resurfaced on the pitch, hence the below-par performance.”
