Poker Star has the hand in Lady Geeta
As the top horses seek the stakes earnings required for entry in this year’s Diamond Mile to be run in December, the top-rated Lady Geeta trophy over six furlongs takes centre stage on the 11-race card at Caymanas Park tomorrow.
The field is headed by Poker Star, already a winner of two races this season. Overall, Poker Star is seeking his fifth consecutive win.
The Lady Geeta is a rivalry involving trainers Harry Parsard and Wayne DaCosta, with the former starting two horses and DaCosta four.
The Complete Racing Guide analyses the chances of the six runners.
Uppa Tune – Not the same horse racing fans have come to know over the years. Struggling to find himself as exemplified by his two rather innocuous runs thus far this season. Will have to run like the Uppa Tune in July and September of last year to beat these.
Hover Craft – Running in every race possible these days. Six furlongs is way too short for Hover Craft but he is certain to earn.
Perfect Neighbour – Ran well on debut finishing behind Franfield and Seeking My Dream.Perfect Neighbour does not have the make-up of a sprinter, and while he will be finishing in his usual strong manner can only be backed for a minor place here.
Potcheen – Finally broke the losing mantra on March 9, when he won in a lower class. This is a trip whichPotcheen will relish and given the necessary improvements he has made since the win, he is expected to produce another of his final- stretch rattles to be very close in the end.
Royal Vibes – Will go home with a small piece of the pie.
Poker Star– By far the most improved horse in training. Poker Star, if necessary, can win from in front or by coming off the pace. This versatility has assisted Poker Star in winning four races in a row. Six furlongs is a perfect trip for him, and it is extremely difficult not to support him here.
