‘Lights Out’ vows to turn it back on in Contender Series
Tsetsi Lights Out Davis is intent on getting past the semi-final mark he achieved last year, when he was out-pointed in a difficult decision against Richard ‘Frog’ Holmes in the semi-finals of the 2015 Wray & Nephew Contender Series.
Speaking recently, Davis was philosophical about his exit from last year’s competition. “Well, I guess it’s some kind of error, but I’m not focused on any of that right now. I’m getting ready to give my all to give my fans the best,” he said.
When asked about his preparedness and condition for this season, Davis said: “Well, mentally, from it comes on to the Wray & Nephew Contender, I always see myself in the final. I’m always positive, so it’s now up to me to apply that to the physical part of it, and make great progress.”
Indeed, Davis is a two-time finalist, having tasted defeat previously at the hands of Devon ‘Concrete’ Moncreiffe and Sakima Mullings. He is well-liked on the Contender circuit and certainly knows much about the ins and outs of the series.
“Every bout in this competition is a big bout, so I anticipate everything the same, whoever I might be facing on the night,” he noted with confidence.
In addition to gym sessions, Davis covers a lot of miles running, and has competed in national 5K and 10K road races.
Davis, who is 38 years old and has won 15 matches and lost five, continues to train in preparation for Round Two of this season’s Wray & Nephew Contender after defeating Courtney McCleave last week.
