Water treatment plant for Content, St Catherine
A new 15-million-gallon water treatment plant is to be built at Content, Rio Cobre, in St Catherine, following Cabinet’s approval.
This was disclosed by Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator Ruel Reid, at a post-Cabinet press briefing held last week at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), in Kingston.
The minister said construction of the plant represented one of the first initiatives under the Government’s 10-point plan, which is geared towards facilitating growth and development.
“We expect within 18 months, once this project has started, that we should see a significant improvement to the ongoing problems for the greater Kingston Metropolitan Area during times of drought,” he said.
Other aspects of the Government’s growth plan include the reform of the tax system, digitisation of all Government records, giving a stimulus to the economy and boosting aggregate demand.
