Demarco in soca mood
WITH the soca season in full swing, dancehall artiste Demarco has thrown his hat in the ring on his latest single Wine It Slow.
Released early this month by Star Kutt Records, the track features Trinidadian soca star Bunji Garlin.
“It has a dancehall-soca vibes with a reggaeton feel. Bunji was the perfect one for the song, because him have a international vibes and the international market is what I’m focusing on,” Demarco told the Jamaica Observer.
The sing-jay, who has been doing several Caribbean gigs, is using them to promote the song.
Wine It Slow, according to Demarco, is the first single from his debut, yet-to-be-titled, 12-track album. It is slated for release this year.
“The album will have a whole heap a nice music. Music for everybody. It will showcase a different side of Demarco … different from the hard core side. It will have one-drop, soca flavour, dancehall, and pop music. A pure new songs on the album with new types of sound. We putting the final touches to it right now.”
In addition to Bunji Garlin, the set has collaborations with Grammy-winning deejays Beenie Man and Shaggy.
Demarco (real name Collin Edwards) started as a selector for the Future Disco sound system. He made his recording debut in 2004 and is known for tracks including Fallen Soldiers, True Friend, Puppy Tail and Good Book.
