Riverton access road to be completed by September
RECONSTRUCTION of the access road to the Riverton City Dump in Kingston, being undertaken at a cost of approximately $219.6 million, is on course for completion by September.
This was announced by Local Government and Community Development Minister Desmond McKenzie, during a tour of the facility on March 24.
The project, which includes the construction of a concrete road leading to the disposal site, is being funded through a grant support from the Government of Mexico.
Meanwhile, McKenzie advised that the assistance of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, which has responsibility for works, and China Harbour Engineering Company Limited, will be sought to repair one of the two bridges linking the access road with the disposal site, which he said is currently unusable.
“This is creating great strain on the single bridge being used,” the minister said.
