Zayn Malik album review
Zayn Malik, previously the mysterious member of One Direction and heartthrob for pre-teen girls just about everywhere , has dropped the video to yet another banger from his album
Mind Of Mine and has released the album in its entirety as well.
Previously scheduled for release on March 25 (exactly one year since his announced split from UK boy band One Direction), the album was actually made available for download online on March 24, not long after Zayn himself treated a few fans to a private album listening party in New York on March 23.
In a matter of hours
Mind Of Mine became the number one worldwide trend on Twitter and the album went number one in over 70 countries.
Mind Of Mine starts off with a strangely hypnotic intro then gets right to it with the lead single
Pillow Talk.
It’s You is the mellow declaration of love or infatuation or something in between that comes next.
Cut from mostly the same cloth the album’s flow is nice, admirable even, and
Mind Of Mine sounds good for a soundtrack to a night of dancing. He departs from the smooth, detached vibe he builds throughout the album with songs like
Fool For You and
Flower.
Standouts or favourites (in this writer’s humble opinion) include:
It’s You,
Befour,
Fool For You and
TiO.
All in all the album’s a mix of pop and R&B sounds smoothly delivered by the newly liberated singer – a better (and already more successful) effort than many critics had expected.
