Boys’ Town clip Harbour View in old rivalry
Boys’ Town FC created a setback for old rivals Harbour View FC in their thrust to secure a berth in the Red Stripe Premier League final four, with a 2-1 defeat at the Barbican playfield on Sunday.
Harbour View drew first blood after Ranique Muir capitalised on a Boys’ Town defensive blunder to put them ahead in the fifth minute. Boys’ Town hit back three minutes later from the penalty spot through Rafiek Thomas.
With 12 minutes remaining in the half, Shamar Nicholson got a clear run on the Harbour View defence to put Boys’ Town 2-1 up.
Harbour View contributed to their downfall by also missing a first-half penalty that was saved by goalkeeper Leon Goffe.
The final result, which saw Boys’ Town climbed to 38 points, one away from Harbour View on 39 in sixth, must have been a bitter pill to swallow for the visitors, as both Humble Lion and UWI won their respective games that kept their chances alive for a place in the final four of the RSPL.
Humble Lion defeated Waterhouse 2-0
In another match, Rivoli United breathed life into their campaign to avoid relegation with a 3-1 win over Cavalier.
