#Champs2016: Calabar’s Russell equals O’Hara’s 13.45-s 110mH record
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Calabar’s Dejour Russell a short while ago equalled the record of 13.45 seconds in the boys’ Class Two 110-metre hurdles at the 106th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston.
The powerful Russell recovered from a slow start to pull away from the field and capture the gold medal in a negative 3.2 metres per second wind speed, equalling the record set by Michael O’Hara, also of
Calabar, in 2013.
Oquendo Bernard (14.18s) of Jamaica College and Orlando Bennett (14.22s) of Calabar were second and third, respectively.
After 23 events, Calabar haver now assumed the lead with 151.50 points, ahead of Kingston College who are on 143 points and are followed by Jamaica College on 117.50.
