Young Reggae Girlz in Grenada for CONCACAF Champs
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada — Jamaica’s Under-17 Reggae Girlz arrived in St George’s on Wednesday afternoon ahead of Friday’s first game against the United States in the CONCACAF Women’s Championship.
The seven local players and assistant coach Xavier Gilbert joined up with the other 13 members of the squad and Head Coach Lorne Donaldson who had earlier arrived at the Grenadian Rex Hotel from their respective overseas bases.
After a long day of travelling, the team quickly settled in as they are scheduled to take to the field for what is expected to be an hour and half training session on today.
“The girls are settled and off their feet, which is good. So we just want them to get some rest for now and we get some stuff done tomorrow (Thursday) before our first training session,” Gilbert told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Defending champions Mexico and Costa Rica complete what is anticipated to be a very challenging Group B. Host Grenada, Haiti, Guatemala and Canada will contest Group A.
