#DecisionJa2016: Robertson predicts win by large margin in St Thomas Western
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — Incumbent candidate for St Thomas Western, the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) James Robertson, indicated that he is not only confident of victory at the polls over the People’s National Party challenger Marsha Francis, but he expects it to be more impressive than the modest 317 votes he won by in 2011.
“All indications are that yes (I’ll win by a larger margin)… the voter turnout is up, everything is up and it is going to stay up,” he said, beaming with confidence ahead of the close of polls.
Robertson, who has retained the seat for the JLP since ousting St Thomas native Anthony Hylton in 2002, said he’s confident that his base support has once again answered the call.
“I am feeling very positive from the signal I am getting in Yallahs, the calls I am getting from the hills, Trinityville and Seaforth… I know they have voted en bloc,” said a confident Robertson.
Efforts to reach Francis for comment all day proved futile.
The constituency of St Thomas Western is seen as one of the marginal seats in the general election, so, too, St Thomas Western.
