#DecisionJa2016: PNP’s Fenton Ferguson wins St Thomas Eastern
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The “five-star general”, Dr Fenton Ferguson, has managed to retain the former Jamaica Labour Party bastion, St Thomas Eastern, for the sixth consecutive term.
Ferguson defeated Jamaica Labour Party candidate Delano Seiveright on Thursday by more than 1,600 votes.
Based on the preliminary results, Ferguson amassed 8,854 votes to Seiveright’s 7,243, after all 126 boxes were counted on election day.
Ferguson only stumbled over the finish line in the last elections by a margin of 288 votes and has since had a troubled tenure as minister of health, but he gave a convincing showing today.
