#DecisionJa2016: Long lines, slow progress in St James Central
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Longer than normal lines and slow voting marked the early going in several polling stations in St James Central this morning.
At the two polling divisions (PD) at Corinaldi Avenue, the lines were longer than normal and older people who have voted in previous elections complained that they did not expect the lines to be so long.
A number of younger voters were also seen in the lines for PD 10 and 12 in the constituency where the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) Heroy Clarke and the People’s National Party’s (PNP) Ashley-Ann Foster will be seeking their first terms in Parliament.
One woman who up on seeing the lines asked whether she could be allowed to vote as she had to go to work and was already late.
Despite being told she had three hours to vote “and the boss can’t do nothing about it,” she still complained that she had to go to work.
