#DecisionJa2016: Cool and calm in Manchester Southern
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — “Cool and calm” is how one outdoor agent in Manchester Southern describes the election day proceedings for the selection of the next member of parliament for that constituency and the next political administration.
Here, it’s the battle of two educators as the People’s National Party’s Michael Stewart takes on the Jamaica Labour Party’s Hidran McKulsky.
Outdoor agent Latoya Wheatley, who is based at the polling station at the HEART Trust/NTA campus in Newport, said 10:00am-1:00pm was the really busy period.
At minutes to 4:00pm she said that more than 400 people had already voted.
The Manchester Southern constituency has been held since 1993 by former speaker of the House Michael Peart, who retired from representational politics this year.
