#DecisionJa2016: Comrades, Labourites unite in Trelawny Northern
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — There was a mood of festivity among supporters of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the People’s National Party (PNP) in front of the polling station at the Unity Primary School in Bunker’s Hill, Trelawny, earlier this afternoon.
As the close of polls neared, both camps were claiming that their respective candidate had pulled off a victory.
Meanwhile, in the nearby Wakefield community, a sea of green dominated the polling location at the primary school.
However, there was a noticeable colour change in Falmouth where the orange of the PNP was dominant.
The PNP is represented in the Trelawny Northern constituency by agronomist, Victor Wright, who was a late replacement for JP White after he withdrew his candidacy. Wright is up against the JLP’s Dennis Meadows, who unsuccessfully challenged for the seat on two previous occasions.
Wright was White’s campaign manager.
