#DecisionJa2016: Man stabbed several times at PNP rally rushed to hospital
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A man arrived at the Kingston Public Hospital a short while ago bleeding profusely, as a result of stab wounds inflicted on him at the People’s National Party rally in Portia Simpson Miller Square, St Andrew earlier.
The rally, which was the final one before Thursday’s election, came to a halt after gunshots rang out at the location which sent several people scampering to get to safety.
According to hospital officials, at least 24 people were injured in the stampede that ensued after the explosions.
The man was one of those who attempted to get to safety and ran into a bus when the shooting started. However, he was greeted by men who stabbed him several times.
He managed to run from the bus and escaped.
Anthony Hylton, PNP candidate for St Andrew Western, said a short while ago that the injured man described his attackers as supporters of the Jamaica Labour Party.
More information later.
