#DecisionJa2016: Labourites rolling into HWT for mass rally
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Labourites have begun rolling into Half-Way-Tree square in St Andrew for the Jamaica Labour Party mass rally this evening.
Vendors are doing brisk business selling vuvuzela and rags to the growing numbers of jubilant supporters while party organisers put last-minute touches to the sound and stage.
The out-of-towners have also begun arriving as many supporters were seen from constituencies in Manchester, St Ann and Clarendon. One supporter said he has been waiting since noon and was prepared to wait for as long as it took for the message he had come to hear from his party leader.
“No man, if me had to come from before day me woulda did deh here because this historic moment can’t miss me since dis is the last Sunday before wi party in a government,” said the Manchester resident who identified himself only as Royston.
There is an equally heavy contingent of police officers strategically placed throughout the area.
The even, which is scheduled to get unde rway at 6:00 pm, will include presentations from several party officials before Opposition Leader Andrew Holness is set to speak at approximately 10:00 pm.
