#DecisionJa2016: No tension between Opposition leader and myself, says PM
ST ANDREW, Jamaica – People’s National Party president Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller says there is no tension between her and Opposition Leader Andrew Holness.
Holness, while in his St Andrew West Central constituency on nomination day recently, made unfavourable comments about Simpson Miller.
Simpson Miller in responding, demanded an apology even as she threatened to take legal action against him. Holness is yet to apologised.
“There’s no tension in the relationship between Andrew Holness as leader of the Opposition and myself as prime minister,” Simpson Miller said at a mass rally in Papine square, St Andrew, Wednesday night.
At the same time, Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown said she is prepared to mediate a discussion between the two. It is not clear if her offer has been taken up.
In the meantime, Simpson Miller has refused to participate in the leadership debate ahead of the February 25 general election, insisting that Holness must retract the comment and apologise.
