Opening hours extended at EOJ offices for ID collection
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says it will be extending opening hours at all EOJ constituency offices from today to Friday, February 19 to facilitate the collection of Voter ID cards.
The offices will be open on Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm and on the weekend of Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14 from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The hours were extended in an effort to facilitate voters who may not be able to collect their ID card during the regular opening hours. This will particularly benefit individuals who work outside of the constituency they live in and would not get home before the offices close, Director of Elections Orrette Fisher said.
“We are opening the offices for longer periods in response to a number of requests from persons who wish to collect their ID cards in time for the General Election but are not able to make it to their constituency offices before closing hours,” he said.
“Our aim is to make it as convenient as possible for voters to be able to collect their ID cards so that they can bring it to the polling station on Election Day.”
Electors are reminded that taking their Voter ID Cards to the polling station on Election Day makes the process easier, as voting without an ID card lengthens the voting process.
