Successful David Hunt management seminar pleases Mayberry
MAYBERRY Investments Limited is extremely happy following its new-found partnership with the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) culminating with the David Hunt Management Seminar which was deemed a tremendous success.
The seminar in honour of the late, former secretary David Hunt, a national Under-17 head coach whose longstanding contribution assisted in the building of the organisation, was held on Saturday, January 31 at the Melbourne Cricket Club.
The management teams from 30 football clubs were in attendance and participated in a full day of insightful presentations from representatives in different industries. The panel explained to the audience how to improve their functions in detail and properly manage their clubs.
Anika Smith, assistant vice-president for Marketing at Mayberry Investments, delivered an interactive presentation on how the clubs can market their activities on low budgets using social media promotion, guerilla marketing, among other techniques.
“The seminar was definitely successfully executed. Attendance was good and all the presenters brought value and experience to the audience. The club representatives would have gained a substantial amount of useful information, and the true success will be achieved by how well they are able to apply what they learned to the running of their clubs,” said Smith.
Gary Peart, CEO Mayberry Investments Limited, presented financial advice and encouraged the coaches and managers to seek professional assistance with their financial plans and showed them different ways to go about seeking sponsorship.
“Mayberry is happy to be on board this initiative; we encourage community development and we like giving back where we can. During my presentation I didn’t use fancy big words or sugar-coated anything,” said Peart.
Peart also encouraged the coaches and managers to seek professional assistance with their financial plans and showed them different ways to go about seeking sponsorship.
Meanwhile, Miguel Williams, chairman of KSAFA’s Disciplinary Committee, gave an informative presentation on the club constitution and Articles of Association.
Roy Simpson, Reggae Boyz team manager, explained the importance of match day preparation and advised that it is vital that the coaches and managers pay attention to details and have pre, post and match day checklists to ensure things are going accordingly.
However, despite the success of the seminar, Mayberry, a full-service financial advisory and brokerage firm specialising in stock and money market trading (locally and internationally); asset and portfolio management; cambio services; pensions management and research, said they hope to continue this sponsorship of KSAFA.
“We would like to but as with all of our other sponsorships, we have to go back and evaluate each one annually. So this is a determination we will have to make at the end of the year,” Smith pointed out.
“We have been familiar with KSAFA and their involvement in the inner-city communities for some time now. We see this as our way of giving back and an initiative that is in keeping with our commitment to exercise greater social responsibility by assisting in the development of our young men.
“We have been involved in community development initiatives for many years through other organisations and our support of KSAFA is another avenue for us to continue this effort,” noted Smith.
