Dental professionals converge in Kingston for convention
MORE than 250 dental professionals from various parishes in Jamaica, Canada, USA, and Europe are expected to converge in Kingston, Jamaica, for the Jamaica Dental Association’s 52nd annual dental convention from February 10-13, 2016.
The four-day event will be held at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston.
Each year, the convention selects a different theme and this year’s theme is: ‘From strong foundations to achieving excellence’.
In a news release, Dr Sashi Nallapati, the convention’s chairman, said the convention caters to dental surgeons, dental specialists, dental students, dental auxiliaries, and dental technicians.
Dental students also have an opportunity to present their research papers at the convention.
“This year the annual convention features world-renowned speakers who will engage the attendees in a variety of topics,” Dr Nallapati said. “Magnification solutions in clinical dentistry, building great practice teams, principles and practice of ethics, learning of drug interactions and street drugs, the latest in dental anaesthesia, managing medical emergencies in a dental practice, latest in root canal treatment, dental implants, cosmetic solutions for oral rehabilitation, and early life periodontitis are the topics that will be covered at this convention.”
He said, too, that a total of 24 continuing education credits (ADA CERP and Dental Council of Jamaica accredited) can be obtained at this convention, which will satisfy the annual requirement by the Dental Council of Jamaica for registered dentists to renew their practising certificates.
There will also be an exhibitor hall with more than 20 exhibitors showcasing a variety of dental products and equipment for on-site orders and demonstrations, along with a hands-on course demonstrating fabrication of provisional restorations in any situation.
