Tivoli revival continues with win over H’View
Resurgent Tivoli Gardens FC won their second game in a row after clipping Harbour View FC 2-1 in yesterday’s Red Stripe Premier League match at Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
Central defender Barrington Pryce gave the hosts all three points after flashing home a header in the 81st minute.
Earlier, Tivoli Gardens took the lead when Donavon Dawkins scored in the second minute. But Jorginho James ensured Harbour View went in at the break level with a 27th-minute strike.
Former champions Tivoli, who have won both their games since Glendon ‘Admiral’ Bailey took over as technical director, are 10th in the 12-team points standing with 26 points from 24 games.
The Ludlow Bernard-coached Harbour View, fighting to squeeze into one of four semi-final spots, remain fifth with 33 points.
In windy conditions and on an uneven surface at the venue, named after the former Jamaican prime minister, the teams ended the first half all square after Dawkins and James struck at either end.
The second half was mostly Tivoli’s as they desperately hunted victory.
They came close on a few occasions in the second half, but their shooting was found wanting.
Reggae Boy midfielder Jermaine Johnson was the main culprit, missing at least two gilt-edged opportunities.
He appeared a dejected figure when substituted, but he soon mustered a smile when Pryce notched the winner.
It came when midfielder Andrew Christie, who scored in his two previous games since joining Tivoli, sent in a curling free kick that was timely met by the big defender.
