Another dismal show as Waterhouse surrender to Arnett
Waterhouse FC continued their dismal display in the 2015-2016 Red Stripe Premier League by going down 1-2 to champions Arnett Gardens at Drewsland in a late kick-off on Sunday.
Waterhouse’s 10th defeat of the season left them moored to the bottom of the standings on 15 points from 19 games and three wins.
Meanwhile, champions Arnett Gardens recorded their 11th win of the season and climbed one place up the standing to second on 35 points behind leaders Portmore United on 37 after Vishinul Harris and Kemal Malcolm gave them a goal in each half, respectively, for victory. Waterhouse replied through second-half substitute DeAndre Brown.
Visiting Arnett Gardens coach Jerome Waite was more than pleased with securing the three valuable points that took the team into second place in the standings.
“Winning, especially on the road, is always a very good result and encouragement to increase confidence and boost team spirit. But as you saw, it was a very physical game, but in spite of this, the players stuck to the task, got the job done and came away victorious,” said Waite.
Waterhouse coach Paul Young expressed concern about the team’s continued poor showing since his arrival three games ago, but he is encouraged by the team’s ability to score goals.
“At present, we just have to work with the players we have. Jermaine Anderson and Kevin Lamey (two outstanding goalscorers for the club) are in the squad to add experience to the team and to help to guide the youngsters along the way. Every now and again they, too, will get their chances to play also. Waterhouse so far have played three games since I am here and we have scored seven goals. So I do not think goalscoring is a problem,” Young said.
