2015 Entertainment REWIND: Courting Busy
Busy Signal had legal run-ins in Zimbabwe and Trinidad and Tobago where promoters claim he collected monies but failed to show up for concerts.
Zimbabwe’s News Day newspaper said the deejay was hauled before High Court judge Justice Matanda-Moyo in October by promoter Patrick Hundu.
Hundu said he made a deposit of $5,500 as a commitment fee for a gig in August, but failed to make the non-refundable deposit of $27,500 by June 4, 2015.
The artiste’s management responded that the contract was breached by non-payment of the non-refundable deposit.
In July, Busy Signal was embroiled in a similar matter in Trinidad and Tobago. He appeared in court for failing to repay over US$37,000 to a local promoter. He paid US$15,000 and agreed to pay the remainder in 30 days.
