Police probing death of baby in Clarendon
CLARENDON, Jamaica – Police in Frankfield, Clarendon are at this time investigating the circumstances under which a newborn was found dead in bushes in the community on Tuesday.
Reports are that about 9:30 am, police began investigations into an alleged case of concealment of birth. A woman was questioned about giving birth to a child but she reportedly denied the allegations. Further investigations led the police to another area of the community where she later pointed out the body of a baby boy in bushes.
The police have also reported that after further probing, the woman confessed that she gave birth to the child on Saturday, December 19, and it allegedly died ten minutes after birth. She was taken to the police station for further questioning and was informed of the offence of Concealment of Birth.
The baby’s body was removed to the morgue pending a post mortem examination.
