#BestOfWorstOf2015 – Male int’l artiste
Best: Drake (Hon. Men.- Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole)Nothing Was The Same released 2013 he held fast, still making waves until the much awaited studio album release in February 2015: If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. There was much ado made whether it was a studio album, mixtape or EP. Drake referred to it as a studio album, but no one could argue that it was just great. Energy were all the rage among the guys. His clash with Meek Mill had Drake fans all hyped up and non-fans interested. The clash of the artistes had Drake coming out on top with his song Back to Back, with Meek firing a dud, and no comments from his girlfriend, Nicki.
It’s quite hard to believe that Drake did not drop an album in 2014. However, still basking in the success from his
Breaking his own record on Spotify with over 17.3 million streams in the first three days, songs like
The newest Drake-rave, Hotline Bling proves Drake’s prowess once more. Even when he shows us that he’s a TERRIBLE dancer (just TERRIBLE), the man just can’t seem to make something that isn’t a hit.
Honourable mention: We could not close the curtains on the “Best of 2015” without mentioning Kendrick Lamar’s success on his album To Pimp a Butterfly, released March this year. The album received nominations for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at the 58th Grammy Award as well honourable praises from the critics. Kendrick also earned Danish Music Award for International Album of the Year. J. Cole also receives honourable mention.Worst: DJ Khaled
Like a bad smell, DJ Khaled is everywhere and nowhere. It’s not even remotely possible to take this man seriously, especially since his recent Snapchat discovery. Now, we hear you all saying DJ Khaled is a producer and not an artiste. Someone should tell him that.
This ‘rapper’ as some would call him, apparently is requested to jump on songs, which is kind of confusing since all he ever does is shout a total of five words on every song he has ever been in… then receives credit for the ‘hit song’. Apparently, yelling your name while Chris Brown sings about hitting on women is big business.
Secondly, and we may be going off topic a bit here, but does he need an Excedrin or something?
Or is this the face he makes when he’s trying to come up with actual lyrics?
Either way this is definitely our reaction whenever we have to hear “IT’S DJ KHALED!”
We here at teenAGE wholeheartedly believe that DJ Khaled should consider a new career path such as motivational speaker, because if you are incapable of saying anything but your name on a track, rapping is definitely not for you. With his recent Snapchat debut it’s pretty evident that sharing the keys to success and telling the world to water their plants is really his thing.
And so, this is why we have awarded DJ Khaled with the medal of worst male international artist. It was well deserved, don’t you think?
