VCB Foundation 5K for January 31
HAYES, Clarendon — The Veronica Campbell Brown Foundation will stage its first annual 5K run, starting and finishing at her alma mater Vere Technical on January 31.
The race, which will start at 7:30 am, is being run to benefit both her foundation and Vere Technical.
“This event is to benefit young girls across the island as we strive to ensure their graduation from secondary schools, thus providing a stepping stone towards their tertiary education,” she told the Jamaica Observer in an e-mail response.
“My desire is that corporate Jamaica would see the benefit in this venture and partner with us. I would also like to encourage participants to come out as there will be attractive prizes and of course health benefits in this exercise.”
Choosing Vere Technical as the host, she said, was an easy choice.
“Vere Technical is my alma mater as well as a school with a rich athletic history, so it is a natural that our Foundation would have them as the host. They are one of our partners in this venture and of course one of the schools that benefits from scholarships tendered by the Foundation,” Campbell Brown said.
