Semojrah Naki expects great 2016
CANADA-BASED Jamaican act Semojrah Naki is expecting a great 2016. The reggae singer is buoyed by the response to his debut single Warrior’s Don’t Cry.
The track was released on Canadian label IsRoyal Records in early December.
“We are finally getting international recognition and we have created a buzz within the reggae community. I have got feedback from as far as Africa,” he said.
He explained the inspiration behind the Warrior’s Don’t Cry.
“We as a people have been through it all; our tears are all dried up. There is nothing more to do but stay strong and wise,” he said.
The singer’s next project — Let Your Light Shine — is schedule for January 31, 2016.
He is optimistic about the year ahead.
“Things are really looking great for me in 2016. We have gotten calls from promoters in California. The prospects are good for a possible three-show run, along the USWest Coast of the USA in March, before I return to Jamaica in April to do more promotions,” he continued.
Born in St Catherine, the artiste grew up in Clarendon with his grandmother. He joined his mother in Kingston at age 6 and eventually attended Kingston College where his love for music was ignited. He migrated to Canada 11 years ago.
“Right now, we are pleased with the progress of Semojrah and we are impressed with the reception received from his audience, so we will continue to keep on pushing great music, by the grace of the Most High,” said Dev Daulton, an Is Royal Records representative.
