Cabbie allegedly stabbed for not paying his dues
A man who reportedly stabbed a taxi driver in his neck and chest for ‘not paying his dues’ was remanded in custody on Christmas Eve when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.
The accused, Jevaughn Rainford — who is facing a charge of wounding with intent — is scheduled to return to court on February 16 next year.
The court heard that on November 19, Rainford allegedly attacked the complainant on Maxfield Avenue in Kingston and stabbed him in his neck and chest, saying that he could not drive through the area as he was not paying his dues.
The injured complainant reportedly drove himself to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was treated.
The matter was reported to the police and Rainford was arrested and charged.
Last Thursday when he appeared in court, the prosecutor informed Resident Magistrate Vaughn Smith that the medical report was outstanding and Rainford, who was without a lawyer, was remanded.
