#BestOfWorstOf2015 – Male fashion trend
Best: Nike Roshe
Everyone knows that a good outfit is all about proper construction, and like any building the foundation is key for a stable look.
So Nike definitely floored the competition this year with the Roshe sneaker collection, landing it our Best Male Fashion Trend of 2015. The simple, sleek and sporty sneaker was everywhere and was definitely the must have footwear of 2015. From Kanye and Drake to Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith to that fresh neighbour you down the road, everyone who was anyone rocked the multi-purpose ‘kicks’.
What made these sneakers so desirable was not only the fact that they are comfortable and lightweight, but that they could be worn in a variety of ways. They were simple enough to wear out on a simple jog or while running errands during the day and yet edgy enough to be dressed up and worn while out on the town with friends.
Though the most common design seen this year was solid black and white, Roshe’s come in a variety of styles and colours, so there was something for every taste. Whether you were the simple purist who appreciated the solid colour look or the more complex pattern lover, a pair of the soon to become iconic Nike shoes was sitting in a store with your name written all over it. This trend was a good example of how a trend has the ability to go beyond just being another momentary thing, instead taking its place among the great must-haves for one’s wardrobe.
Worst: Drop Crotch and Emoji Joggers
Joggers formed a huge trend among guys this year, mainly because of their comfort and lightweight feel. And don’t get me wrong I love a good jogger every now and then, but as always there are instances when you take a good thing, try to push the envelope and just end up making it into something horrible and this why Emoji Print Joggers and Drop Crotch Joggers have been named as the Worst Male Fashion Trend of 2015.
First of all emojis on clothes was just a bad idea from the get-go… let’s be honest with ourselves. As Jamaicans we take how we look very seriously and that must have been extremely hard to do if you wore these joggers, because you walked out of the house literally looking like a clown!
This look is not fashionable or trendy in any sense, and frankly it needs to just stop. As for Drop Crotch Joggers, this is pretty self-explanatory, I mean unless you are a dancer in rehearsals these should never be worn, much less in public. I mean I understand giving the boys some room but they don’t need a track to run on!
If these crimes of fashion are in your wardrobe please do yourself a favour a clear them out before the new year.
