Ricam, Hillstars clash in Manchester KO final
MANDEVILLE, Manchester – The Manchester FA/Brumalia House Knockout competition concludes today with Hillstars FC and Ricam Academy set to clash in the championship game at the Kirkvine Sports Club.
Match time is 2:45 pm.
The winner of the final will represent Manchester in the all-island KO competition, and for either side this would be a major milestone as they are both hunting their first hold on the KO title.
Based on form, Ricam are likely to enter the game as slight favourites. They are yet to taste defeat in the current campaign and are currently the most outstanding team in the Major League, having ended the first round at the top of the overall points standing with an unbeaten record.
They opened the KO competition with a 2-0 win over Villa United, then blanked NCU President’s XI 4-0 in the quarter-finals, before beating defending champions Porus FC by a similar scoreline at the semi-final stage.
Except for a recent 1-0 defeat to Mile Gully, Hillstars have also had an impressive start to the season.
As a result of that defeat, the reigning Major League champions trail Mile Gully by a point in Zone One, but returned to winning ways in the previous round of matches, beating 2-0, which should help their confidence heading into this showdown with Ricam.
Hillstars advanced to the KO final after beating Technical Strikers 3-1 in the semis, following a 1-0 win over Greenvale United in previous round.
